Overview

Oma Frieda, located on Jl. Cipete Raya in South Jakarta, offers a fresh take on traditional Indonesian comfort food with a focus on ketupat sayur and lontong sayur. This restaurant brings to the table a beloved family recipe, passed down through generations, that highlights rich coconut milk broths accompanied by tender rice cakes and a variety of flavorful side dishes.

The star of Oma Frieda's menu is undoubtedly the ketupat sayur, served moist and perfectly cooked. Diners can customize their meal by choosing side dishes such as shredded beef (daging osek), spicy krecek tahu, or crispy bakwan jagung, which all create a satisfying blend of textures and tastes. One of the remarkable touches in the dining experience is the free-flow broth and traditional crackers, enhancing each bite with warmth and crunch. Complementing the meal with a slightly tangy kombucha drink refreshes the palate, balancing the savory and creamy elements of the dishes.

The restaurant’s atmosphere reflects a clear commitment to cleanliness and hygiene, with staff observed wearing gloves and masks — a reassuring feature especially in these times. The space offers a casual yet tidy environment suitable for families or individuals looking for a comforting meal in a quiet corner of Jakarta Selatan.

While the flavors are largely well-executed and the recipes feel homey, some reviews note minor opportunities for improvement, such as adjusting seasoning levels to enhance balance or increasing portion sizes on certain items like ayam Kluwek for better satisfaction. Nevertheless, the quality of ingredients and the care in preparation make Oma Frieda a noteworthy spot for those craving authentic Indonesian dishes with a modern twist.

For a casual dining experience centered around traditional rice cakes paired with rich, hearty side dishes, Oma Frieda caters to food lovers who appreciate nuanced flavors rooted in family heritage. Easy access via cashless payments adds to its convenience, making it an inviting place for locals and visitors alike to explore Indonesian culinary traditions beyond the usual fare.

I actually saw this place on social media and deliberately went to this place as I happens to be a big fan of "Ketupat Sayur". Well, obviously this place serves premium "ketupat sayur" with various complementary side dish to choose and all of them sounds delicious to me. At first I wanted to order a simple "ketupat sayur" with only 2 side dish but I ended up choosing 2 portions of "ketupat sayur" with 3 different dish. One of course is for my wife, but we shared our food to taste the choosen side dish. For me, the taste needs to be added some salt, but since I ordered "kentang mustofa" side dish it's just right now. What I like is that the broth as well as the traditional cracker is free flow. The ketupat is also perfect. It's moist and tender. They cooked it perfectly. Since the ordered menu is so rich in flavor as well as uses coconut milk, for me, the right drink to go with it is kombucha. As it's a bit sour and therefore gives a freshen taste. The place is very clean and they also has high concern on hygiene since the staff are using gloves and mouthguar is used by the kitchen staff. Payment can be made cashless with bank transfer, Qris, debit and credit cards.

Oma Frieda’s lontong sayur is tasty and enjoyable, with a comforting flavor that works well for a casual meal. However, it doesn’t quite deliver the authentic punch or uniqueness that makes it stand out. Good to eat, but not the kind of dish you’d remember as truly special.

The krecek tahu is amazing....The ketupat is not bad, it just needs a bit of sweetness added to it. Good job... The portion is just right (3 lauk). Thank you.

A new place to enjoy Lontong Sayur, a family secret recipe passed along to the recent generation. Tried the ketupat campur Oma Frieda with ayam Kluwek and beef rendang, also sayur lodeh tempe bakar, pete tahu semur kentang and sambel kentang ati. Served along with complimentary hot tea and crackers. The Sate buntel made from fish are worth to try, also the tahu isi udang. The serving size of the chicken needs to be evaluated, since I got the small piece of chicken wings. Perhaps the standard size would be better (chicken breast or thigh) The food are delicious, well seasoned and on point. Light and tasteful. The restaurant just opened in a week, there were still some works for finishing, needs to be done. Best wishes !!

The food, especially ketupat sayur, was amazing! Delicious and authentic taste of my childhood was presented in that plate. Asem asem daging sapi was awesome! Soursop kombucha was brilliant! The soursop gave a tinge of sweetness. Brilliant place to dine if you’re craving for Indonesian cuisine.
